Growing Up!

Jonah and Bailee are both getting so big! Jonah has fully adjusted to being back in school. He started back right away without any tears. We are working on listening a little better right now. It’s hard for him because he isn’t always aware that someone is talking to him. Maturity will make a big difference in that skill.

We tried Bailee in the Jumperoo this weekend and she loved it! She was content to sit in it for quite awhile. She was smiling and laughing at the jungle animals. Jonah kept trying to show her how to jump in it and how to make the toys move. He can be such a great big brother!

Brother and Sister

Playing together
Bailee has recently discovered her hands and arms. Any chance she gets, either one is in her mouth. She is sleeping pretty well - typically just gets up once in the night around 4 a.m. for a bottle and then goes back to sleep. We haven't quite established a real routine, but once school gets going I know we'll get there. She is smiling and making quiet little noises throughout the day. She certainly loves her brother but isn't always up for the rough play Jonah is ready for.

Jonah had a check up with Dr. Escobar in Indy on July 23 and it went well. He gave us a prescription for a muscle relaxer for him to help with the tendons in his left leg. Hopefully this will help and we can prevent surgery. We are meeting with an orthopedic specialist August 4 to see if she has other ideas for him as well. At Jonah's next appointment with Dr. Escobar he will have some audiology testing done. He feels that th hearing issues Jonah is experiencing is an auditory processing disorder which is good because he can learn to overcome it. In a few weeks Jonah will be starting back to pre-school. He will be going 5 days a week from 8:30-11:30. We are hoping he makes the adjustment back to school fairly easily.

Bailee is 2 months!

Bailee now weighs 11 lbs 11 oz and is 23 in long. She has a wonderful appetite and has tried a little cereal along with breastmilk and formula. She is smiling a lot more, especially at Jonah and her Daddy! We got her a play mat and she loves laying on it and looking at the toys. She is starting to kind of bat at them too. She is working hard at talking but isn't always very successful.

The start of summer

Happy 3rd Birthday Jonah!

Jonah turned 3 on May 12 and we had his Imagination Movers themed party May 14. Jarrett and I had a tough time finding decorations and such for the party, but thanks to eBay we find some stuff. I made the cakes for the party myself.

Hands down, this was probably Jonah's favorite gift - a personalized Imagination Movers jumpsuit! He brings it to us so he can wear it while he watches it on TV.

Bailee Ann Richards

Bailee Ann Richards was born on May 17, 2010 at 12:19 p.m. weighing 6 lb 12 oz and 20 in long. I initially went into labor on May 9 - Mother's Day but since I was only 36 weeks, the dr stopped my labor. A week later I went into labor again. I started timing m contractions about 4:30 p.m. and we ended up at the hospital about 2 hours later. I was kept over night to ensure that I was really in labor and not contracting because of the bladder infection I had. I contracted through the night and around 9 a.m. the next morning the decision was made to go ahead and deliver via c-section.

32 weeks

I am now 32 weeks and things are going well. Other than the usual ailments that go along with pregnancy I am feeling pretty good. At my appointment yesterday the doctor said my belly was measuring about 2 cm more than expected at 32 weeks -- translates to measuring at 34 weeks instead. He wasn't concerned because I've been consistently measuring big for 3-4 visits. He said it was a good thing I had a scheduled c-section because she could end up big.

Easter and Pre-school

Our handsome little guy on Easter Sunday

Jonah goes for evaluations for the pre-school in our school district April 20-22. This will tell us what amount of therapy the school will provide and how many days he will need to go. Since his birthday is before the end of the school year, the school is required to offer him therapy through the pre-school. I think this will be a good transition because he will be able to go about 3 weeks before school lets out for the summer and then will start back up again in the fall. This will be so good for him and we are excited for him to start but it's hard to think of sending him to pre-school already. He's growing up so fast!

Another Update -- Nursery and Mama

We got the fence up in the baby's room last night. I am quite impressed in how easily and quickly it actually went up. Jarrett and I used some great teamwork and came up with a decent method and finished it in less than an hour. I also conquered my fear and used the brad nailer!
On another note, I got a call from my doctor's office and found out I failed the initial glucose screening test. This means that I have a 3 hour test ahead of me to check more closely for gestational diabetes. Hopefully I can pass this test and not have to worry about my diet. I was also told that my Iron is low which I wasn't totally surprised about. It was low while I was pregnant with Jonah and it was actually the same number this time. I can just take an Iron supplement to help with that.

26 Weeks

Things are continuing to go well with the pregnancy. I had a check-up today and everything looked good. My weight gain and measurements are right on track and my blood pressure was great. I had the glucose screening test today so hopefully that will come back negative for gestational diabetes. I go later in the month to get my Rhogram shot since I am RH negative. I start seeing the doctor every two weeks now so we're heading towards the home stretch it seems.

Glider Finishing Touches

I put some finishing touches on the glider this weekend. This was the glider from Jonah's room and the cushions were blue. I covered it in a chocolate brown and added some ribbon and flowers. I also used the wall hangings that came with the crib bedding set to make arm rests.

Children's Musuem of Indianapolis

We took Jonah to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis on Saturday and we had a great time! There were exhibits and fun things to do for all three of us.
Jonah liked the Bob the Builder Exhibit. You could play with "tools" and "drive" construction vehicles.

Jarrett and Jonah played a few games of Pac Man. We wanted to show him Mario Brothers but one family wouldn't stop playing, not that I blame them.

Jonah really enjoyed the mirror and lights exhibit. He was the center of attention and he is his biggest fan.

In the Pre-School Play Place we had a lot of fun. They had a sand table, a garden, a doll house, a water table, slides, big blocks, and all sorts of fun stuff to play with and on. We probably spent the most time in there.

It took awhile for Jonah to play in the water -- it was pretty cold.
