Another Update -- Nursery and Mama

We got the fence up in the baby's room last night. I am quite impressed in how easily and quickly it actually went up. Jarrett and I used some great teamwork and came up with a decent method and finished it in less than an hour. I also conquered my fear and used the brad nailer!
On another note, I got a call from my doctor's office and found out I failed the initial glucose screening test. This means that I have a 3 hour test ahead of me to check more closely for gestational diabetes. Hopefully I can pass this test and not have to worry about my diet. I was also told that my Iron is low which I wasn't totally surprised about. It was low while I was pregnant with Jonah and it was actually the same number this time. I can just take an Iron supplement to help with that.

26 Weeks

Things are continuing to go well with the pregnancy. I had a check-up today and everything looked good. My weight gain and measurements are right on track and my blood pressure was great. I had the glucose screening test today so hopefully that will come back negative for gestational diabetes. I go later in the month to get my Rhogram shot since I am RH negative. I start seeing the doctor every two weeks now so we're heading towards the home stretch it seems.

Glider Finishing Touches

I put some finishing touches on the glider this weekend. This was the glider from Jonah's room and the cushions were blue. I covered it in a chocolate brown and added some ribbon and flowers. I also used the wall hangings that came with the crib bedding set to make arm rests.

Children's Musuem of Indianapolis

We took Jonah to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis on Saturday and we had a great time! There were exhibits and fun things to do for all three of us.
Jonah liked the Bob the Builder Exhibit. You could play with "tools" and "drive" construction vehicles.

Jarrett and Jonah played a few games of Pac Man. We wanted to show him Mario Brothers but one family wouldn't stop playing, not that I blame them.

Jonah really enjoyed the mirror and lights exhibit. He was the center of attention and he is his biggest fan.

In the Pre-School Play Place we had a lot of fun. They had a sand table, a garden, a doll house, a water table, slides, big blocks, and all sorts of fun stuff to play with and on. We probably spent the most time in there.

It took awhile for Jonah to play in the water -- it was pretty cold.

Baby Girl Nursery

Tree in bloom
A large lady bug on the light switch.

My collection of tulips and bees. I painted 5 little lady bugs in different places around the room and you can see one of them here in the botttom left hand corner by the daisies.

Whimsical grass, flowers and a strawberry plant with a dragon fly nearby

I am quite proud of this stork! Jarrett was kind enough to draw it out for me and he did a wonderful job. I did paint the stork myself and I am very impressed with how well it turned out. I plan on putting the baby's birthday on the pink bag after she's born.

Jonah wanted so desperately to help as we were painting in the baby's room. There were several occasions where he sat on my lap and helped me put a second coat on a flower. There are a couple blades of grass with little Jonah prints in them -- he would try to get as close as he could to the wet paint without getting any on his fingers. He typically succeeded but he did leave his mark in his baby sister's room. After we were pretty much done with the painting, we would find him in there with a paint brush in hand tracing over the grace and pretending to paint the flowers.

There are some things that still need to be finished in the room, such as a picket fence along one of the walls. Once we get the fence up, I can add more flowers and a few butterflies to finish off the room.

February 2010

As everyone knows, Jarrett, Jonah, and I are expecting a baby girl on May 28, 2010. We have been spending a lot of time getting things ready for a new addition. Jonah transistioned to a twin bed over the summer so he is officially a "big boy." We have converted our computer/guest room into a gorgeous pink nursery with a lady bug and flower garden theme. Jonah's Grandpa Fischer built him a huge toy box which fits perfectly in his room. Hopefully this will get some of his toys out of the living room to make room for baby.
Jonah has been cruising around the house like crazy and is only brave enough to take 3-4 steps at a time. We are really focusing on his balance and confidence. He has been doing really well with his speech therapist. He has already shown an increase in tongue movement. He will be transitioned from First Steps to Pre-school around his birthday in May. This will allow him about 2 weeks in pre-school this year and then he will start back in the fall. We aren't sure yet how many days he will be attending but I know it will be good for him. We have a wonderful program in our school district and I am excited for him to be in a school setting. It's hard to believe that it is time to think about pre-school already though.

Playing Catch

Jonah has figured out how to catch a ball. Monday during therapy we were playing with his ball and he put his hands out and caught it. Today he was playing with my dad and I and just kept catching it. He thought that was pretty cool stuff.
